Voodoo in Wrestling

I know, it sounds odd, but I've always wondered this and I beg you to hear me out.

A long time ago there was this guitar player named Robert Johnson. He was an okay guitar player, but always wanted to be better. There is a story surrounding him that he sold his soul to the devil.

The story goes that if you go to crossroads in any town around 12 midnight, it's pitch black and you bring whiskey, a black man will appear and ask you what you want.

Johnson said he wanted to be the best guitar player in the world. The black man (in New Orleans Voodoo, he is Papa Legba) tuned his guitar for him and he became one of the best that anyone has ever heard. If you have ever seen "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" the guitarist is based off him.

Have you ever watched a wrestler who had a normal amount of skill in one performance and the next time around he looked like another person?

I have seen this a few times. Heartland Wrestling has some stars who first look horrible. They can't sell a move and can barely put on a show. The next time they come out they look like they've been in the business for years.

I know this sounds odd and this is just a thought that I had, but is there a chance that this trick works for all things? Is it true?

I have a hard time believing that any of that has happened, but I believe it's possible. Could you picture that? It has to bring a chill to your spine waiting until 12 midnight and seeing a dark shadow appear? The fear must be unbearable. I can see it happening only because the desire for fame can drive anyone to try anything, and this intrigued me.

This actually doesn't have to be for wrestling. It can be applied to any sport out there, but since I write wrestling articles, why not make it one?
