NCAA Tournament: Duke-ey Love

Lester MoraCorrespondent IMarch 20, 2008

It's March Madness time and teams have to up their game.

No matter what your regular season says, whether you're 26-9 or 33-1, everyone is 0-0 come tournament time.

Jameer Nelson knows that feeling all too well. Back to square one.  All the college fanatics are filling out their brackets.

Though the regular season had Tyler Hansbrough's North Carolina Tar Heels and Derrick Rose's Memphis Tigers as the major stories, I'd rather look at the dark horses of the brackets.

They may not have been the same without JJ Redick, Chris Duhon or Luol Deng, I still would put my money on the ever reliable Duke Blue Devils.

I don't know why they aren't more highly ranked with their extremely entertaining games. Being a mad NCAA fan from Australia, I rank Duke as sure team to make the Sweet 16.

Currently ranked at No. 9 on ESPN Polls, it would be very interesting to watch from the couch. Tight games like the Marquette game will grab more spectators.

Be sure to keep the higher ranked teams on your calender.  Duke brings their A-game.

I'm really expecting a breakout tournament from senior, DeMarcus Nelson, seeing that he would be hungry to put up another banner at Cameron Indoor Stadium.  Coach K must be feeling like it's that time as well.

Duke, as of late, has done really well but when it came to the higher ranked teams they sort of stumbled. But with an experienced back court of Nelson and Greg Paulus, Sweet 16 should be close to their lips.

In the past seven games, Paulus scored double digits, including that 17-point losing effort against Clemson.

Freshmen Nolan Smith and Taylor King should also be ready to step in when Coach K calls upon them when bench production is needed.

Even though the regular starting five score more then 10 ppg, the bench production is critical. Nevertheless, I feel confident enough that the Duke bench is more than capable.

I am not a firm believer of those regular season rankings.  I'm going to throw them all out.

Now it is crunch time and I have the Blue Devils in that elite group of teams.

My Cinderella story has been written and now its up to Coach K and company to make it a living reality.
