The Tennessee Volunteers (3-4) and South Carolina Gamecocks (6-2) are set to meet up in a Southeastern Conference showdown on Saturday afternoon inside Williams-Brice Stadium, with the opening kickoff scheduled for 12 p.m. ET on ESPN.

College football handicappers will find that the Gamecocks are 14-point home favorites in the Week 9 betting odds (courtesy of SBR Forum).

South Carolina will look to bounce back from losing both games of its current road trip, including a 44-11 blowout loss to the Florida Gators as 3.5-point underdogs, as the program’s 12-game win streak against Eastern Division opponents was snapped.

The Gamecocks have gone 4-0 against the spread (ATS) at home this season but have failed to cover the number in six of their last seven meetings with the Volunteers at this venue.

Tennessee has ended up on the losing end in its last three games, coming off a 44-13 setback to the Alabama Crimson Tide as 19.5-point home underdogs, as it lost the statistical battle by a 257-yard margin.

The Volunteers defense has struggled mightily during the course of the 2012 college football season, allowing 26 or more points in its last five contests, which has resulted in four defeats in that span.

I’m going to recommend that backers take the points in this affair, as the road team has gone 11-3-1 ATS in the last 15 meetings in this series.
