White Guy Eric Devendorf Just Like That White Guy Gerry McNamara

Some serious love is in order for the Worldwide Leader in Sports. Wednesday night the network put on a hell of a comedy act, far surpassing comedic levels of every stand-up routine at the annual version of the ESPY Awards. (We know, we didn’t know something could be that funny, either.)

For it was on this fateful Wednesday evening from the world famous Madison Square Garden that starting Syracuse guard Eric Devendorf secured the role of "Exhibit A" in the Mainstream Media seminar for typecasting and racial ignorance.

With Orange alumnus and former teammate Gerry McNamara looking on, the WWL revved up the “family theme”—i.e., showing the Curry family after every shot by Stephen. See, because McNamara and Devendorf ARE family. They DID play college hoops at the same school, and they ARE both Caucasian.

Every time Devendorf hit a three-pointer, the McNamara Cam took the screen. Like a proud papa, Gerry beamed with pride.

Actually, he didn’t do that. He celebrated during the run up to the Orangemen’s domination of Seton Hall, but that’s about it.

That wasn’t good enough, so ESPN crafted its alternate reality where storylines are the most valuable commodity in the world.

Not surprisingly, ESPN is still thriving as a dynasty in that alternate reality.

1962: Darryl Strawberry joins the world, and doctors instantly label him a future star prospect for the yet to be invented R.B.I. Baseball for Nintendo.

2009: The nation mourns as the realization sets in that they are a fresh 365 days away from the next 311 day. So sweet. ###MORE###

Random indeed...we look back to the first time the Scooby Doo cast met the Harlem Globetrotters. Question to ponder: If the series was created in the 21st century as opposed to the '70s and '80s, and Ron Artest was a cameo basketballer on an episode, would he be considered a friend of the gang or a flesh-striking monster?

That Terrell Owens is a Buffalo Bill. And while it might seem like the recent acquisition of arguably the largest non-criminal headcase in the NFL is something that might take a while to process by Bills fans, let it be known that there are those out there who are already looking to capitalize...

The lesson here? No matter how big of a jackass you are, people will not hesitate to try to make money off of you if they can.
