Jon HancockOct 19, 2012

Johnathan Williams III, a 6'9" power forward from Memphis, TN., committed to the Missouri Tigers Thursday night according to Jeff Borzello of CBSSports.com.

"It's a great basketball program, good academically and just a good school," Williams said after he announced his commitment to Missouri, via Jeff Borzello of CBSSports.com.

"It's just a great situation," Williams told John Martin of the Commercial Appeal. "I went to their workouts, saw their workouts, and they work extremely hard. I know they're gonna do big things this year and then next year when I get there."

Williams is considered the 11th-best power forward and the 51st-best player in the 2013 class by 247Sports.com. He held offers from 18 different Division-I schools including Louisville, Memphis, Georgetown, Florida, UCLA and Texas.

ESPN says of Williams:

"

Williams is a rare combination of length and skill that reminds many of a young Lamar Odom. At 6'7" and left-handed, Williams possesses a tremendous handle and feel for the game. Like Odom, Williams could be considered a point forward that can initiate offense.

"

Williams averaged 15.7 points, 10.2 rebounds and three blocks a game last year as a junior at Southwind High School. He played AAU ball for the Bluff City Legends this summer.

Missouri now has three commitments for the 2013 class. Along with Williams the Tigers have 4-star point guard Wesley Clark and 3-star point guard Travis Jorgenson.
