Rough news for Rey Mysterio, as it appears he may be more ill than initially reported on Raw.

As, WWE.com reports:

Rey Mysterio will be unable to travel to Cairo for the SmackDownTour due to an illness. Former WWE World Tag Team Champion, Ted DiBiase Jr., will be added to the tour.

As much as this hurts for Mysterio, it could have a big pay-off for Ted Dibiase Jr. As we have gone quite sometime without seeing him on televised on a regular basis.

With that said, one has to wonder how this will affect the tag-team tournament finals slated for next week's Raw. I gotta believe, Sin Cara and Mysterio will be forced to forfeit in order to move the tournament along. Let's face it, with less than two weeks left before Hell in a Cell, the WWE's hands are tied if he cannot perform.

About a month ago, a report surfaced that Mysterio and Cara were going to lose to Rhodes Scholars anyway. However, I don't think anyone would have imagined it would end like this. Ultimately, I feel the WWE was hopeful that Mysterio would last longer if paired up with a tag-team partner.

In fact, the WWE was so high on the future of this duo, that a rumored WrestleMania plan may have been set in place. Ultimately, Rey is getting older and healing from anything is going to take longer than it would have 10 to 15 years ago.

Sadly, since his WWE debut Mysterio has been injured often, while somehow still being one of their most popular stars. In the end, if Mysterio misses another big chunk of time, it might serve him well to take the rest of the year off and return at the Royal Rumble.
