World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus has been on a rocket ride to the stars since his victory over Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania XXVIII.
Before that even.
He met and defeated every opponent WWE threw at him and then some. His reign has been one of the most successful since the WHC's creation in September 2002.
Yet, now that he is involved in a feud with the Big Show, it seems everything has been sent to hell.
This program is awful, a complete disaster and a waste of people's time and money.
It is bad enough to have the "World's Biggest Athlete" in another world-title match, but these "exchanges" he has going on with Sheamus are like claws on a chalkboard.
The silver lining is, at least the Celtic Warrior will have his biggest challenge to date inside the cell.
On a personal note, I would have been way behind this matchup were it booked like a serious one. I don't know, call me crazy, but if Show is such a threat, why is Sheamus acting like a clown? This is no laughing matter, right? So why not take this "giant" threat seriously?
There was a time when The Giant appeared to be unstoppable. He defeated some of the best. He even became a Grand Slam Champion this year upon winning the Intercontinental championship. The small little "ick" is that none of his last title reigns ended up meaning anything.
Why would anyone care to have him as the new WHC now? It would be temporary, I believe, a great opening for Dolph Ziggler to cash in his MITB contract.
I am a real Sheamus fan and I do not want him to lose yet. He is a great character that brings something to the championship. This whole thing reminds me of Mark Henry last year. Strong character, good reign.
What was the result?
Big Show ended it all for no good reason (booking) and then lost to a cash-in. The same thing may happen here again.
Wouldn't things be better if Big Show stopped talking and acted like a monster? Look at Ryback. His stuff is working and he hardly says a word.
WWE does not yet know how to take the belt off Sheamus and doesn't want Dolph to pin him so it allows for the possibility of history repeating itself by having the Big Show inserted in the title picture.
One thing does come to mind with all this, though. For two weeks now, Sheamus has fought Wade Barrett on Raw only to have DQ finishes. Is this a preview of things to come? That would be a much better program to follow.
As of right now, the World Heavyweight Championship is about as useless as it ever was. It's a great time to think about unifying it with the WWE title.
That's what this feud is doing to it, rendering it obsolete.
Sheamus is a good champion and it would not be a bad thing if he was the last. Maybe that is where this is headed.
The World's Largest Athlete versus the Celtic Warrior is a failure when it could have been much, much more.
Hell In A Cell better happen soon so we can look past this nonsense.
