Chicago Blackhawks: How the Class of 2012 Is Faring so Far This Season

The Chicago Blackhawks selected eight players in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft this summer. With the lockout still casting a pall on the 'Hawks season, those draft picks have begun the road to the day they might don the Indian head sweater.
Hockey is underway in most leagues by now. Here is an early update on how the Blackhawks class of 2012 is doing.
Round 1, Teuvo Teravainen, LW
Playing in his native Finland, Teravainen is getting off to a slow start for Jokerit, which is 5-4-1. An influx of NHL talent, including Red Wings forward Valtteri Filppula, may have knocked him down in the pecking order. Playing 15 minutes a night, Teravainen has a goal and two assists through ten games.
Round 2, Dillon Fournier, D
Fournier has only recently been cleared for contact after a shoulder injury he suffered back in March, though he has been skating. Rouyn-Norando is 5-2 to place them near the top of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. After missing the Huskies first five games, his 2012-13 debut came October 3 in a 5-2 win over Cape Brenton. He is plus-one with no points in two games.
Round 3, Chris Calnan, RW
Calnan has not begun action with his school team at Noble and Greenough, where he is preparing to play his senior season. Calnan will be attending Boston College starting next season.
Round 5, Garret Ross, LW
You could say that Ross was victimized by the lockout. With Rockford crowded with more polished prospects, Ross returned to his junior team in Saginaw. Through seven games, Ross has three goals and six assists, though the Spirit is at the bottom of the Ontario Hockey League's Western Conference.
Round 5, Travis Brown, D
Seven games into the Moose Jaw Warriors season in the Western Hockey League, Brown has a pair of goals to go with seven assists.
Round 6, Vincent Hinostroza, C
Hinostroza has played two games of what is his third season in Waterloo of the United States Hockey League. He has three goals and two assists in that span. He was named the USHL's forward of the week for his play in that league's opening weekend.
Round 7, Brandon Whitney, G
Whitney has been in goal for eight of Victoriaville's nine games in the QMJHL. He has one shutout to his credit and is 3-3-1-1 for the Tigres, who are third in the East Division. While teammate and current 'Hawks prospect Phillip Danault is lighting up the league on offense, Whitney has a 2.64 goals against average and a .916 save percentage.
Round 7, Matt Tomkins, G
Tomkins is playing for the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He has started seven of his team's 11 games and is 5-2. Playing at the Canadian Junior A-level, he has a 2.97 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.
