WWE 13: DLC Wrestlers We Can't Wait to See in Action
When WWE 13 hits the shelves Oct. 30, the anticipation over the company’s biggest video game release will have the wrestling fans across the world ready to play as their favorite superstars.
Improved gameplay and dozens of new features have made this one of the hottest games this year, but it is the Attitude Era character list that has many nostalgia-loving fans ready to explode.
As great as the roster was to start for this year’s edition of the game, the downloadable characters being released are some of the most intriguing in the history of the franchise and will make this game memorable.
While there were many names to choose from in the DLC packs, all of the following superstars have peaked our excitement for one reason or another. Enjoy!
Chainsaw Charlie (AKA Terry Funk)
If you don’t remember Chainsaw Charlie—or think of Terry Funk by that name—this is man that was one of the longest-tenured, most dangerous wrestlers in the history of the business.
From his days in the NWA and AWA feuding with Ric Flair, to his time in ECW and WWF battling Mick Foley, Funk is one of the most recognizable superstars ever.
While he’ll never get the credit he deserves, Funk is one of the most underrated wrestlers in the history of the business; what better way to pay homage than via a video game.
With Cactus Jack also available in this game, getting ready for the Hell in a Cell PPV in October will be fun because you can use Chainsaw Charlie in WWE 13 to beat Cactus in the demonic structure.
Not only was Brian Pillman a pure athlete that played in the NFL, he was one of the most talented mic workers during his time in WWF, ECW and WCW.
While he had great success with Stone Cold as the Hollywood Blonds in WCW, it wasn’t until his return to ECW in 1996 where the in-ring worker found his calling; an evil heel.
As a heel, Pillman’s character was dark and deranged. While his death in 1997 revealed how much his personal life had played into his gimmick, the impact Pillman had on the industry in that short period of time will never be forgotten.
Getting a chance to play as him in WWE 13 will truly be an honor.
Diamond Dallas Page
While Diamond Dallas Page’s road to greatness wasn’t normal—the veteran started wrestling at 35 years old—the success over his career has been incredible.
Despite getting lost in the shuffle when Vince McMahon bought out WCW, DDP had already established himself as a top star and one of the biggest draws in the business.
As the three-time WCW champion, there is no doubt that the veteran would have been an even bigger star if it weren’t for the vendetta the WWE had on WCW stars.
Now the fans that loved WCW and DDP have the chance to bring him back to championship glory where he belongs and put that world title around his waist once again.
While just a few months ago, all the WWE Universe knew was that Skip Sheffield was injured, now the repackaged star is on track to be one of the biggest faces in the company.
Didn't see that coming.
With Vince McMahon’s support, there is little doubt that the recent interactions with WWE Champion CM Punk are a telling sign of what’s to come; Ryback is the next huge WWE star.
Thanks to WWE 13’s DLC content, fans that love Ryback can enjoy squashing their friends, while the smarky fans that hate the muscle-bound star can beat him with Dolph Ziggler or Cody Rhodes.
Everyone is happy!
Of all the downloadable characters WWE 13 has offered so far, none have appealed to the masses more than Damien Sandow.
The intellectual savior has been enlightening the WWE Universe since debuting a few months ago, and the tag team push he is receiving with Cody Rhodes is perfect for his development as a wrestler and as a character.
Sandow has the perfect gimmick to be a heel in today’s WWE.
With so many opportunities to fantasy book Sandow’s career because he is so new and so over already, playing as Sandow will make this latest edition of WWE’s video game series the best!
