Harrison Twins Officially Commit to Kentucky Wildcats

Paul AblesMay 31, 2018

Aaron and Andrew Harrison just announced their intentions to play for the Kentucky Wildcats on an ESPNU recruiting special. The dynamic duo are the two highest-ranked guards in the 2013 recruiting class and form one of the greatest package deals in basketball recruiting history.

The decision to play for John Calipari and the Wildcats was not an easy one, as the twins were also considering Maryland and SMU. Larry Brown drew interest from the guards, but the true competition came from the Terrapins. Their father, Aaron Harrison, Sr. has close ties with the university and also formed a strong relationship with head coach Mark Turgeon, who first met the Harrison family during his tenure at Texas A&M.

Another hurdle for the Wildcats to overcome was the family's connections to Under Armour, who is the official outfitter of Maryland's athletic program.

Despite all of these close connections with the Maryland program, the twins ultimately decided to play for the hottest program in college basketball. Kentucky is fresh off of a NCAA championship and just hauled in the nation's top-ranked recruit and one of the best classes in the country.

Aaron and Andrew will likely form the starting backcourt for the 2013-14 Kentucky Wildcats, who could form a very strong team if they secure commitments from other top players in this year's class.

The Harrison boys are among the country's highest rated players. Rivals ranks Aaron Harrison as the nation's third best prospect in the class, with Andrew Harrison right behind him at fourth overall.

Scout ranks Andrew as the country's second-best prospect, just behind small forward Jabari Parker. Aaron falls in line as third overall in the class.

As for ESPN, they fall in line with the other two major services by ranking Andrew and Aaron Harrison second and fourth overall, respectively.

The dynamic duo join forces with current commit Derek Willis in Kentucky's 2013 class.
