Robert Guerrero Fight Against Daud Yordan Ruled a No-Decision

King JMar 7, 2009

HBO's Boxing After Dark was live from San Jose, Calif. just outside of Guerrero's hometown of Gilroy.

The first of three televised bouts was the 130-pound bout of Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (23-1-1, 16 KO's) vs. undefeated Indonesian fighter Daud Yordan (17-0, 12 KO).

From the opening bell it was apparent that it was a pro-Guerrero hometown crowd. The unknown Yordan proved that he can box and had good footwork as he was moving in and out, throwing at Robert's head with right hand combos. Guerrero was mainly focusing on Yordan's body.

Yordan threw another right left combo that rocked Guerrero with about 10 seconds left in round 1, winning the round.

Round 2 had Yordan throwing more right left combos and clinching. One of the clinches had Yordan throwing a punch and then trying to pull Robert toward him to clinch, which ended up in a clash of heads that opened up a significant cut above the eye of Robert.

Yordan then proceeded to land two clean right hands on the head of the Ghost.

Guerrero then complained to his corner and the ref that he could not see out of his eye due to the blood flowing down from the cut into his eyes. Apparently the ringside medical doctor almost did not believe him.

So the ref decided to wave off the fight after just 2 rounds and the pro hometown crowd of Guerrero began to boo, for they assumed Robert had just lost the fight.

However, this was not the case, for according to the California Rules of Boxing a fight that is stopped due to an accidental head butt must go at least 4 rounds in order for it to go to the judges' cards. So this fight was officially ruled a No Decision at 1:47 of round 2.

The much unknown, undefeated Indonesian Daud Yordan was ahead on KING J's score card, winning round 1 and winning much of round 2 up until the stoppage.
