Behold, the Spring Equinox!

It is almost upon us. I can almost taste it, and I quiver with anticipation. Yes, of course, it's the spring equinox, one of two great periods of nirvana for the avid sports fan. Autumn represents the other, and we'll address that later. The spring equinox is a moment in time where the stars align, and peace and harmony bathe us in happiness.

I'm sure the question on eveyone's lips is "just what does this equinox entail, and how do I gets me some?"

Well relax, all you need do is embrace it, and everything else will take care of itself. Please be advised that due to the greedy nature of professional sports, the exact date of this convergence varies.

Simply put, the spring equinox consists of a cornucopia of sports events. This usually occurs the first week of April. They include: Opening day for MLB, the NBA playoffs, the NHL playoffs, the NFL draft, the Masters, the NCAA tournament, and Spring in New England.

As you can plainly see, this is a time of great joy, representative of rebirth and hope. The snow shovels are in the back in the tool shed, and the lawn mower is at the ready. The grill is coming out of hibernation, and bicycles are dotting the landscape.

Trees are budding, and coolers are being hosed off (yes, you should have done that last fall, but the stench will dissipate).

So embrace the equinox. Get out your two iron and chip thawing dog feces into the neighbors yard. Blow the sand off your driveway, and into the street where it belongs. Replace American Idol with the MLB channel on the remote.

Return your brother's fertilizer spreader so you can borrow it again next week.

So there you have it. The only better time of year is the Autumn equinox, the Grand Pubah of all things sports. The World Series makes it so. But that's another story for another day.
