2012 Ryder Cup: Live Coverage, Reaction of Day 3 Singles Matches

If the Americans can garner 4.5 points of the 12 available, they will take the Ryder Cup. They begin the day with a 10-6 advantage.

Phil Mickelson is down early as he has dropped the first two holes to Justin Rose. Luke Donald is 2-up on American Bubba Watson, while Webb Simpson of the United States is 1-up on Ian Poulter. Rory McIlroy and fidgety Keegan Bradley are all-square.

McIlroy and Bradley could be the most interesting match of the day. McIlroy is cool, calm and confident, Bradley is filled with nervous energy.


Watson missed his birdie putt at 5 and opened the door for Donald. However, Donald slid his putt wide and Watson conceded the par. Donald remain 2-up through five holes.


Nicolas Colsaerts misses his par putt on the first hole and then concedes the first hole to Dustin Johnson who had a short birdie putt. That was the right thing to do. The U.S. goes up by 1 early in the Johnson-Colsaerts matchup.


Bradley miss a par putt on the fourth hole and that gives McIlroy a 1-up lead. ... Watson misses a short par putt on six and end so does Donald. Both players bogey the hole and Donald remains 2-up through six.

Graeme McDowell with a strange shot on the first hole, leaving his approach "putt" short. Misses his next putt and Zach Johnson is left with a par putt. First McDowell makes a tough bogey putt and then Johnson makes his par to take the first hole.


Bradley comes back to life as he makes a birdie on the fifth hole. He's down by just one hole to McIlroy, the world's No. 1 player.

Watson and Donald birdie the seventh to halve the hole; Donald remains up by plus-two. ... Sergio Garcia misses a birdie putt on the first hole and Jim Furyk misses his as well. Garcia makes his par putt and it's all square. ... Paul Lawrie with a spectacular chip that goes in and he goes 1-up on Snedeker through four holes.


Mickelson with a nice shot out of the bunker and then makes his birdie putt so he is now all-square with Justin Rose.  .... Garcia and Furyk with excellent tee shots on No. 2, but Garcia's is a tad better. Garcia should make his birdie putt while Furyk has a bit more work to do to make his....


McIlroy from off the green and he puts it in on the fifth hole and he is up by two. Garcia makes a birdie putt to go up by one. ...Johnson goes up by two over McDowell. .... Peter Hanson makes a birdie on the first hole for Europe, but Jason Dufner answers with a birdie. Lawrie makes an eagle on five to go two up on Snedeker.


Webb Simpson with trouble on seventh and he concedes the hole to Poulter. Simpson now up by one going to the eighth hole. .... Donald and Watson both par the ninth, Watson is down two at the halfway point. .... Simpson with a horrible shank on the eighth hole. Reminds me of one of my own shots. .... Mickelson misses a long birdie on 6, still all square with Justin Rose.


Simpson trying to come up with a miraculous save from just outside the cart path and he puts it on the green. ... Matt Kuchar with a beautiful tee sheet on the second hole. ... Poulter misses his birdie putt, perhaps giving Simpson a chance to halve the hole. Simpson leaves his par putt short. Poulter makes his par putt and he is now even with Simpson.

The U.S. only leads 1-of-10 matches so far today. (2:01 pm, Eastern)


Tiger Woods set to tee off against Francesco Molinari. Woods with a huge ovation. He pounds the ball and has a great first shot. ... Mickelson concedes seventh hole, while Jason Dufner takes a one-hole lead. ... Keegan Bradlye with a birdie to cut into McIlroy's lead. ... Johnson with a birdie to take a one-hole lead over Coslaerts.

Europe has lead in 4 matches; US 3....


Tiger misses a birdier putt on 1, Molinari does as well. ... Mickelson makes his putt on eight and he is all square. Steve Stricker makes a birdie on two and is one up on Martin Kaymer. ....


McIlroy is up by two at the halfway point. .... Rose with a spectacular shot to within two feet of hole on ninth and Mickelson nearly matches it. ...  Rose gets birdie conceded while Mickelson misses his birdie putt and Rose goes back up by one. ... Furyk misses eagle putt, Garcia birdies his putt. Molinari pars second, Woods gets a bogey and trails in the match.


Kuchar misses his par putt on the fourth and trails Lee Westwood by one. ... Luke Donald puts his tee shot in the water on 13th hole and Watson puts his drive into the bunker. ... Lawrie with a birdie on ninth and he goes up by three through nine holes. ... Quiet Jason Dufner with a birdie to go up 2. ... Woods and Molinari with spectacular shots on third hole.


Woods misses his birdie putt and Molinari makes his. Tiger is down by two and he is really struggling in this Ryder Cup. He has lost three matches and is down early in the fourth. ... Bradley with a birdie on 10, he's now just down one to McIlroy. .... Watson misses a chance for a birdie on 13, and Donald makes his saving par putt. Donald remains up by four.


Colsaerts with a birdie and he is all square with Dustin Johnson through nine holes. ... Zach Johnson moves to three up on McDowell, who is not on his game. .... Mickelson misses his putt and opens the door for Rose on the 10th. Rose with a six-footer for birdie and he does not take advantage of his chance. Then Rose makes his par and the hole is halved. Rose still leads that match by one.


McIlroy scrambling on 11th hole and makes a tough putt to halve the hole. He remain in the lead by one hole. ... Jason Dufner misses short putt on fifth hole. If had made the shot, he would have gone up three. Luke Donald is going for eagle on the 14th. If he makes it, he wins the match against Watson. Donald misses his putt, so he retains a four-hole lead with four holes to play.


Molinari misses a par putt on fourth and that allows Tiger to cut into the lead. He's down by one going to the fifth. ... Poulter has tied Simpson by making his putt on 12th, while Simpson missed his. .... Snedeker makes a birdie putt and cuts the lead of Lawrie to two. ... Donald with a solid pitch on 15th and Watson is in big trouble. However, Watson with a sweet approach and he will force Donald to make his putt to close out the match. Donald misses, so Watson cuts the deficit to three as they head to the 16th.


Luke Donald with a great bunker shot on 17th hole. Watson had to hole out from off the green and he couldn't do it. Donald wins the match and Europe has the first point of the day. Watson wins, 2 and 1.


Mickelson misses his birdie on 13, so he remains all square with Rose. Five holes to play in that one. ... Woods makes his par putt and is now all square with Molinari through six holes. ... Simpson misses his birdie putt on the par 5 and is all square with Poulter.

Colsaerts and Dustin Johnson are all square as they head into the 14th. ... Bradley is behind a tree on the 14th and is in deep trouble.... Bradley keeps looking for an alternative but he is going to try to do the near impossible. He gets out from behind the tree, but he can't overcome the bunker. McIlroy, with a bunker shot of his own, puts it three feet from the hole. ... Garcia with an eagle to square his match with Furyk. Bradley has a good out from the bunker, but he loses the hole and is down by one heading into 15.


Bradley hooks his drive on 15th and he is looking more nervous by the moment. ... Dustin Johnson misses his par putt and Colsaerts moves into the lead, heading into the 15th hole. ... Kaymer with a brilliant approach on the ninth, but it spins back 10 feet from the hole. ... McIlroy puts his shot within three feet from the hole. ... Bradley in trouble, takes an awkward-looking swing but hits a great shot.


Mickelson makes a birdie to take a one-hole advantage on Rose. McIlroy makes his birdie putt while Bradley can't make his. McIlroy is two-up with three holes to play. ...Lawrie is about to give Europe its second win. He is five up with five to play.


Poulter makes his par putt on 16 and so does Simpson. They are all square heading into the 17th. ... Matt Kuchar makes a birdie putt and he has tied up Lee Westwood through 10 holes. ... Tiger just misses his birdie putt at nine and he remains all square with Molinari. ... Simpson studies his tee shot on 17 and then hits it in the bunker. He will have a difficult stance. ... Dufner has lost two holes ina row and now leads Hanson by just two.


McIlroy looking good for Europe because he 's two up with two holes to play. ... Simpson with a great out on 17 from a tough lie. ... Lawrie is ready to put away Snedeker. He misses his approach shot and can't make his putt, so Lawrie wins the match. Europe is now down by 10-8 (4:11 pm, Eastern)


Poulter is up one as he goes to the 18th, but he sends his drive off to the right. He gets a great roll off the path. ... Bradley hits a superb tee shot on 17 to match McIlroy. He has to win 17 and 18 just to get the 1/2 point for the U.S. ... Justin Rose rolls in a 15-foot par putt on  16 to halve thole hole and remain one down to Mickelson. Bradley misses his putt and McIlroy wins, 2 and 1. It is now US 10, Europe 9.


Garcia make a par putt is all square with Furyk heading into 14. ... Molinari takes a one-hole lead over Tiger heading into the 11th hole ... Simpson misses his putt and Poulter win the match. Europe has tied the Ryder Cup at 10-10. .... The U.S. has the advantage in several of the matches on the course. However, after Mickelson just misses a tremendous birdie opportunity, Rose rolls in a monster to take the 17th hole. Mickelson applauds Rose's spectacular shot. That pair is tied going into the 18th hole.

Dustin Johnson just misses his putt, forcing Colsaerts to make his putt to remain alive. However, he slides it wide and the U.S. takes the match. the U.S. moves back into the lead 11-10. Johnson finished the Ryder Cup 3-0. ... Dufner rolls in a long one to move two up on Hanson. ... Big miss for Mickelson on 18. ... Molinari misses birdie put, but he remains one up on Tiger.


Furyk with a clutch birdie putt to take a one-hole edge on Garcia. ... Rose hits his shot on 18 on the green and that gives him a big advantage over Mickelson, who must come up the ridge. Mickelson hits a good shot, but he will have a challenging par putt if Rose misses his birdie attempt. But Rose does not miss and he gets the birdie. He wins the match over Mickelson. The Ryder Cup is now tied, 11-11.


Sergio Garcia missed his birdie attempt on 15 and has  testing putt to halve the hole. He makes it and remain one down going to 16. ... Tiger rims out a birdie opportunity that would have tied the match. ... McDowell walks away from a putt when the blimp flies over and creates a shadow. Then he pushes his putt wide right. ... Molinari misses his putt and is now all square with Tiger.


Garcia with a tremendous bunker shot, but he's disappointed that it didn't go in. ... Zach Johnson is a short putt away from giving the U.S. the lead, and European opponent Graeme McDowell concedes the putt. The U.S. now leads 12-11. ... Dufner is ahead by two with three holes to play. ... Furyk hit his tee shot on 17 into the bunker. ... Tiger makes his putt to take the lead over Molinari.


Westwood is about to close out Kuchar, three up with three to play. ... Kaymer hits his putt and Stricker misses his chip, so Kaymer is one up. ... Furyk lining up a tough putt on 17. He must hit it solidly and he is studying it hard. Crowd getting impatient with him. He slides it right and his match with Garcia is now tied going into 18.

Stunningly, Europe has taken the lead. Jim Furyk led by one going into the 17th, but he drops the final two holes and Europe leads, 13-12....
