WWE World Heavyweight champion Shaemus will square off against WWE champion CM Punk on the debut episode of WWE Main Event on the ION Television on Wednesday, October 3. Taping for the show will happen on October 2 from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Champion vs. Champion main event of the brand new card has recently been officially announced on WWE.com. WWE action will begin at 8 p.m. ET and will last approximately one hour.
According to WWE.com, the event will feature superstars and divas from both the Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown rosters.
Like its counterpart shows, the in-ring action will be extensive, and the show will also feature behind-the-scenes content that helps fuel and drive existing story lines and feuds. It looks like it is intended to be an integral segue between the Monday and Friday night shows.
While the match is sure to provide excitement, it would be surprising if either title were on the line given the implications of either Punk or Shaemus walking away with both titles.
Despite the lack of title implications, there is sure to be some type of fireworks in the main event as the WWE is clearly trying to build its new brand on ION TV. There’s also no denying the star powers Punk and Shaemus bring to the table.
Hopefully, the card will provide some excitement and help spark a struggling WWE franchise that has recently failed to meet expectations of a large part of its fan-base.
One way or another it’s going to be an exciting debut for the WWE. Both Shaemus and Punk know how to put on a show, and it’ll be worth the time spent finding the ION TV station in order to watch the program.
