WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Diva Kelly Kelly as of today, September 28, 2012. WWE wishes Kelly Kelly the best in all her future endeavors.
On her Twitter profile, Kelly had the following to say:
Had an amazing 6 years with wwe made great friends and have the most loyal and amazing fans in the world thanks for the never ending support
Have exciting things in the works can't wait to share them with you stay tuned
Kelly had taken a hiatus from WWE recently, having been away from late May through early August.
The date for Kelly's return came after a period of uncertainty about how lengthy her hiatus would be and she has still not been featured regularly on TV since that time.
WWE has not featured Kelly in a pay-per-view since she and Maria Menounos defeated Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres at WrestleMania XXVIII.
Kelly is the latest in a number of WWE Divas to depart from the company. Since the start of 2012, the Bella Twins, Maxine and Kharma have all departed the main roster while Shaul Guerrero recently quit WWE's developmental roster.
With rumors that Phoenix is planning to depart WWE soon, can WWE really claim to have a Divas division at all at this point? Its most high profile wrestler was Kelly, its most talented was Phoenix and the most loved Diva with any WWE fan is AJ Lee who is no longer wrestling due to her role as general manager of Raw.
This will leave Alicia Fox, Aksana, Tamina Snuka, Eve, Layla and Natalya left on the full-time roster, along with Kaitlyn when she returns from her (storyline) injury. That's seven women. When it uses up more than half of your roster to have a tag-team match, you've got serious issues.
