BCS/Top 25 Implications
The Tigers just dropped from No. 2 to No. 3 in the latest AP and USA Today coaches’ poll.
They barely escaped a feisty Auburn Tigers team that was playing with the support of their home crowd behind them, winning by a slim 12-10 margin.
The Oregon Ducks were able to pass LSU behind a dominant 49-0 massacre of the then-No. 22 ranked Arizona Wildcats
If LSU wants to climb back into the top two and garner serious national championship game consideration, it needs to absolutely destroy Towson on Saturday.
LSU Player to Watch: Kenny Hilliard
With Alfred Blue out for an indefinite amount of time after suffering a knee injury in Week 3, the Tigers will rely even more heavily upon the sophomore RB.
Hilliard has run 47 times this season, resulting in 343 yards and six touchdowns. He wasn’t able to get much going against Auburn, however, compiling just 40 yards and no scores on 10 attempts.
Expect him to absolute dominate the Towson Tigers when he gets the rock in his hands and then sit for a stretch after LSU builds an insurmountable lead.
Towson Player to Watch: Greg Enders
The senior QB is going to have to play the game of his life to lead his team to one of the biggest upsets in college football history.
He was able to throw for two touchdowns and connect on 14-of-18 pass attempts in a 46-17 rout of St. Francis (PA) during his last outing, but he’ll have to quadruple those numbers to beat LSU this Saturday.
Prediction: LSU 57, Towson 0
The LSU Tigers are going to absolutely decimate the Towson Tigers this weekend. There is simply no chance that Les Miles even lets off the gas after almost falling to the unranked Auburn Tigers this past Saturday.
LSU must get tuned up for its impending matchup against the No. 11 ranked Florida Gators on October 6, as it could have major implications on how the final SEC standings shake out.
Blowing past Towson is just another small step in the long journey to redemption in the national title game.
