Dear Mr. Reid,

Or maybe I should call you Andy, or better yet, Big Red. Whatever. It doesn't really matter.

What does matter is that I don't know whether to love you or hate you right now. To be honest, I have reason for both.

Regardless of the turnovers, the penalties, the head-scratching play calling, the egregious officiating--regardless of it all, we are still 2-0 (Remember what happened the last time we were 2-0? Shhhh).

I applaud you for changing the culture and mentality of this team in the offseason. Last year, this team would have lost both games because they simply lacked the mental toughness to sustain fourth-quarter drives and then close games on defense. Had this been 2011, you guys would have folded like a pair of lawn chairs.

It was a sight for sore eyes to watch a defense embody the characteristics of a traditional Eagles defense: tenacity, speed, hard-nosed, resiliency...a sort of bend-but-don't-break attitude, if you will.

I'll admit, Andy, I had to double-take when I read the headlines announcing Castillo as the new defensive coordinator. I really thought you had lost your marbles. But now, you look like a freakin' genius.

My bad.

It seems as if Castillo knows a little something about defense after all.

On to the more pressing matters.

First of all, who the hell is calling the plays? Is it you, or Mornhingweg? Quite frankly, I really don't care. It's beyond me why any head coach with an ounce of rationale would throw the football 60 times when you have the most agile running back in the league.

It's baffling!

Especially when your quarterback is consistently mistaking Browns defenders for Eagles receivers, not to mention spending half the game staring at the sky on his back.

The game against Baltimore was managed much better in terms of run/pass balance, but Vick still ended up on the ground every other play.

I got news for you, big guy, no matter how much Mike may think he is half-Kryptonian, he's not. I guarantee you, if he continues to get hit at the same rate for the next couple of weeks, he's not going to last. And if you want any chance at making a deep postseason run and salvaging your job, you better start protecting No. 7 like the Pope. Simple as that.

Another thing, the turnovers. My god, the turnovers. Nine times in two games? Are you serious? The only thing more pathetic than that is the Manning brothers throwing six picks in a combined three quarters.

Something has got to give. Not too often can you lead in the turnover column AND the box score. On the flip side, I guess that just speaks to the potential of our offense. Scary!

So far this season, the horrendous officiating has been in your favor. Both games could have easily had different outcomes had the real referees been on the field.

My point being, get your guys in line. Exercise some discipline in that locker room. I think I speak for the rest of the Eagles fanbase when I say I'm tired of seeing senseless penalties negate big plays or give the other team a fresh set of downs. It's probably one of the most infuriating things to watch as a fan. So please, address and fix it!

All in all, that's pretty much all I have to say about the season thus far.

Sure, I could rant for hours about the last 13 years, but I'd prefer to leave the past where it belongs.

Good luck with the rest of your season and ummm, E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!

Best Regards,
