The unexpected display of emotion is great if you're a Chicago Bulls fan, as the tearful display showed that Rose's desire to be on the court, playing the game he loves is second to none.
Rose's tears started to flow when he began to talk about his family and fan support since his ACL injury occurred (per ESPN.com) in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference playoffs in late April.
Anyone who is second-guessing Rose on being able to come back as good as he was before the devastating injury had to take notice of the pain Rose expressed during his somber shoe event.
Knowing just how much being kept off the court is bothering Rose should leave no doubt in anyone's mind that the Bulls point guard will do whatever it takes to get his game back up to the MVP level that it had before the injury.
Rose is known for not showing much emotion in games or during press conferences, so his display of pure emotion during his shoe reveal demonstrates that Rose is human. He is not a robot or superhuman and will need to fight this way back to the top, just as anyone in his situation would have to.
After seeing Rose flash his human side Thursday, seeing Rose back on the court can't come any sooner. Rose is a class act and it is a shame that the game will be without his presence for the better part of the 2012-13 season.
