NBA Fantasy Tips: Week 19 Injury Replacements

Brandon RibakMar 2, 2009

We all know the NBA Playoffs are quite possibly the most exciting time of the entire year. As we wait anxiously to find out what seed our favorite teams have been ranked in their conferences, fantasy owners luckily get a chance to experience the playoffs just a little bit earlier.

They get the opportunity to compete against the best teams in their league and battle for the title right before the NBA Playoffs begin. Now, what could be better than winning your fantasy league and ending it by watching the NBA Playoffs on TNT?

Below is a list of players that could help your team during week 19 of the NBA fantasy season as replacements to injured starters. These players should get a fantasy boost and excel more this week than usual.

Kyle Weaver (SG, OKC)

Who the heck is this guy, right!?!

Wrong.

Weaver is a rookie shooting guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder and is averaging more minutes in the month of February than ever before.

With Kevin Durant most likely sidelined for the entire week, Weaver should continue to see consistent starting minutes and is worth picking up as a stop-gap. He dropped 19 points on Feb. 21 and followed that game with 16 against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Weaver logged 39 minutes of play this past Saturday and should be picked up right now for week 19.

Glen Davis (PF, BOS)

"Big Baby" Davis has been pretty productive over the last three games putting up 14 points against the Los Angeles Clippers, and back-to-back 18-point games against the Indiana Pacers and the Detroit Pistons.

Davis is averaging just less than 30 minutes per game in that three-game span and will continue to produce with Kevin Garnett out for another week or two. If you are in need of a big man or a forward, Davis is your man for the upcoming week 19 scoring period.

Joel Przybilla (C, POR)

Przybilla is not a player that will light up the scoreboard for your fantasy team, but if you are in great need of rebounds and blocks, the man is worthy of being added.

He is averaging 9.5 RPG and 1.25 BPG during his last eight games as a starter, replacing the injured Greg Oden. Przybilla should continue to put up those types of numbers for your team night in and night out until Oden returns to the floor.

Roger Mason, Jr. (SG, SA)

With an injured Manu Ginobili, Mason should continue to get the biggest improvement in production. He is averaging 12.25 PPG, 2 APG, and 3 RPG during his last eight contests and is a decent stop-gap if you are in need of a guard or a three-point shooter. He has 15 3PTM during his last eight games and will surely drop at least two to three long-jumpers a game.

Marquis Daniels (SG, IND)

With Mike Dunleavy, Jr. contemplating end-of-season surgery, Daniels gets the benefit of the doubt in this case. He is logging nearly 40 MPG during his last six games and is averaging just under 18 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 2 APG, and 1.5 SPG in that span.

Daniels proved what he was capable of putting up during the first half of the fantasy season and should continue to contribute numbers similar to the ones above for the rest of the year.
