Yankees Drop Three in a Row in Slugfest
This game was ugly. I didn’t get to see it, but the box score speaks for itself. The game was dominated by hitting. Both teams combined for 33 total hits and 24 runs.
The Yankees pitchers didn’t have anything in the tank today. Alfredo Aceves gave up three earned runs in one inning of work. Christian Garcia gave up four runs (three earned) in one inning of work, and he picked up the loss.
The only guy who was impressive was Mark Melancon. He ended the game by pitching one inning. He gave up one hit and struck out two batters. He still maintains his 0.00 ERA this spring.
The Yankees were mashing the ball, but it just wasn’t enough to get the win.
Brett Gardner, Robinson Cano, and John Rodriguez all went yard on the game. It’s amazing that Gardy already has two home runs during Spring Training, as it isn’t something he does very often.
Jeter went 3-for-3 and picked up two runs. Cano also went 3-for-3, with a run and four RBI.
Alex was bashed by the fans, but it didn’t stop him. He went 2-for-3 today, with two doubles and two RBI.
In total, the Yanks scored 11 R, picked up 19 hits, and committed two errors in the field.
