Chicago Bears vs. Cleveland Browns: Preseason Week 4 Live Score, Analysis

The Chicago Bears travel to Cleveland Ohio to square off against the Browns in the fourth and final preseason game of the 2012 season.
While the fourth preseason game may seem like the least important of the four games, it is more important for the Chicago Bears 53-man roster than in years past.
Underlying stories for tonight's game include:
- Anthony Walters will be getting the most game reps in at the safety position tonight, can he play at a high enough level to prove that legitimately belongs in the 53-man roster? Would Walters make the roster were it not for the season-ending injury to Brandon Hardin?
- At wide receiver can Dane Sanzenbacher have a big game at both wide receiver and on special teams and prove he belongs on the roster as the sixth wide receiver? Sanzenbacher's play tonight could very well dictate whether the Bears keep five or six receivers.
- Linebacker depth still is a concern, with the Bears waiving the injured Dom DeCicco, J.T. Thomas and Blake Costanzo need to prove they're competent backups who could potentially be counted on.
- Of course there is still the unsettled situation at offensive tackle where neither J'Marcus Webb nor Chris Williams has come out as the starter. Their play will be under the microscope for the fourth and final week.
- The third and final running back roster spot battle between Lorenzo Booker and Armando Allen. This one is going down to the wire and while it may not seem important, we found out quickly last year that this battle DOES matter.

Josh McCown takes a few knees to run the clock out for the Chicago Bears in this one...final score Bears 28-20 over the Cleveland Browns.
Overall a solid game for the backup Bears players.
As mentioned previously both Lorenzo Booker and Armando Allen had great games, Allen finishes with 134 yards from scrimmage including a touchdown. He started out the game strong in the passing game, and finished the game strong running the football.
Allen's overall effort likely is what pushes him over the top, but it's going to very close to call in this game.
Thanks for tuning into this live blog of scoring and analysis.
Browns kick a field goal to bring in to an eight point lead. 28-20 Bears lead with 4:58 left in the fourth quarter.
Armando Allen now has the chance to run the clock out with his effort running the football.
Allen does precisely what he needs to do late in the game he gets tough yards with Booker out.
First play he chugs ahead for two yards behind a wall of blockers. Second carry he bulls ahead for four yards.
Allen then gets a good cut and back up into the hole and grinds ahead with a blocker in front for a first down nice solid yardage on this play. Good blocking good effort by Allen as he follows his blocker through the hole.
Allen is extremely winded right now and yet he breaks a huge run. Excellent speed, great vision to the hole he cuts back to the opening and takes off up the field.
Allen with a 49 yard run on the play just showing why the coaching staff has been so high on him.
Allen now has 16 carries for 83 yards after that big run, on top of the five receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown.
I don't want to be the guy that has to decide who wins this third string RB job between Booker and Allen.
Isaiah Frey with a pass caught in front of him on the sideline. No way Frey makes the roster, he's been awful this preseason, I see nothing that says he deserves a roster spot.
Do any of either of these two rookies at CB make the roster? Highly unlikely both Frey and McCoy have been bad.
Clock chewing time by the Bears on offense, ahead 28-17 with 7:46 in the fourth quarter, there's not a lot left to play for. Bears go for it on fourth and short with McCown over the top, Bears stopped short.
Lorenzo Booker taken to the locker room to be evaluated for a head injury. He's done for the night, Armando Allen gets his biggest opportunity behind the Bears O-Line to end the night.
If Booker's injury is serious it could mean that Allen wins the job.
Really bad offensive series by the Bears here as the Bears go three and out. Ugly execution on offense McCown under pressure bad pass, on three straight plays.
Brown get a big return in the return game, but the returner coughs it up and it's recovered by the punter Quigley. Bears back on offense first and 10.
Browns QB Lewis gets 16 yards as the pocket collapses around him, puts the Browns first and goal at the one. Bears lost contain in the pocket, contain previously in the run game and each time it resulted in big yards on the ground for the Browns.
Basic fundamental football on these plays and the Bears fail to execute.
Thomas up over the top on first down, touchdown Browns.
Bears run defense loses contain on the back end and Browns RB Thomas gets 64 yards on the run. You lose contain, you blow your gap and big running plays will happen. DE lost contain, Isaiah Frey lost contain and the Browns are in the red zone.
Bears offense stalls with no yards in the running game, Browns really ganging up with eight men in the box.
The look here is the Bears are playing to run out the clock and get home early so no one gets hurt.

Bears defensive line swallows up the pocket like a black hole, QB scrambles away and is tackled short of the first down, holding on the play declined brings up fourth down.
Sanzenbacher fair catch on the punt return Bears take over on offense.
Armando Allen takes the power sweep around the right side. A solid six yard carry for Allen, but he's then thrown for a loss on the run blitz from the Browns.
They dialed it up and dropped the second year back for the loss.
McCown flushed from the pocket scrambles ahead for a first down and lowers the shoulder on the safety. Tough play, but a very scary play...McCown though is playing like he has nothing to lose because he essentially does.
Armando Allen good kick off coverage on the play he fights off a block, keeps his lane and makes the tackle. Special teams help you stick on this roster and Allen showing some value in the coverage game here late in the third quarter.
Bears lead 28-10 3:00 left in the third quarter.
Bears defense goes three and out, Patrick Trahan blocks the punt, Brittan Golden picks up the loose ball and scores.
Bears up 28-10

Bears front four doing what they do best, whether it's the starters or the scrubs, the D-Line moves bodies stretches out running plays and shuts down running lanes.
Simple fundamentals on defense showing why this defense is so well coached.
Injury update on Bears defensive tackle Brian Price, he has been taken to the locker room with an apparent head injury.
Greg McCoy with a nice break on the ball, bats it high up into the air it appears to fall to the turf, but is kicked up into the air by the receiver and Greg McCoy takes it into the end zone.
Just a mess of a situation blowing the play dead when McCoy makes the INT after batting it up into the air and catching it off the heel of the receiver. Lovie Smith wins a challenge for a change.
Xavier Adibi down with an injury he's had a good game, but he likely doesn't make the roster.
Overall all of the players, playing in tonight's game are not likely to make the team.
Only keepers I really see that are playing, McCown, Sanzenbacher, Brian Price and Nate Collins, Booker, Edwin Williams and a battle between Ozuougwu and Wootton.
Brittan Golden with his second drop of the game, not a perfect throw but a pass he should have caught. Golden isn't going to make the roster, but you want to see a better effort from the young receiver.
Ryan Quigley with a 46-yard punt, downed inside the 10 yard line at the six. If Podelesh can't go Quigley likely gets the call and if Podelesh can he deserves to catch on as a starting punter with another team.
Tyler Clutts too is having a strong game as the fullback. Three catches on the night he went up the ladder to get one. Eight receptions during the preseason and he's been an excellent lead blocker in the game tonight.
Four TEs and no FB on the roster? Tyler Clutts is making his case tonight to stay on the roster with the game he's having.
Lorenzo Booker
David Richard-US PRESSWIRE
Browns kick the field goal and kick off to the Bears. Bears lead 14-10.
Corey Wootton needs to get pressure off the edge in the passing game. He has zero sacks while Cheta Ozougwu has 3 in the preseason.
Ozougwu may come out of nowhere to win a roster spot based on how he rushes the passer.
Booker continues to hard and well in this game 10 carries 70 yards, 11 yards on this last run.
Another four yard carry for Booker off of the exact same run play. Offensive line has been blocking well in the run game. They settled down and are opening up running lanes.
Browns get a good pass on first down, Cornelious Brown with a missed tackle.
Cheta Ozougwu with an excellent speed rush to the outside curls and gets under the OT and gets the sack. Ozougwu now with three sacks in the preseason, putting Corey Wootton on notice.
Brian Price splits the blockers gets into the backfield and dumps the running back for a loss.
Price is shook up on the next play..could be a conditioning problem for the DT.
Very well blocked sweep to the weak side by the Bears offensive line, springs Booker for a gain of nine yards. AJ Greene at left guard, Ricky Henry at RG, Edwin Williams at center.
False start on the offense. Booker gets a couple of yards on a not so well blocked play.
McCown take a shot down the field excellent pass protection. McCown overthrows Sanzenbacher and it's picked off.
Xavier Adibi
Eric P. Mull-US PRESSWIRE
End of the first half Bears lead 14-7 off of two touchdown passes from Josh McCown. McCown is also 16 out of 20 for 137 yards in this game. He's showing veteran poise and ability in this and it makes me question why the Bears felt the need to spend $3.5-million on Jason Campbell when it seems McCown is a more than adequate backup.
Lorenzo Booker has seven carries for 48 yards.
Armando Allen has 5 catches for 51 yards and a touchdown.
Pass protection has been good for the most part, I'd say excellent most of the night.
Defense has been both good and a bit shaky. Would like to see more pressure off the edge from the front four. Corey Wootton should show more off the edge in the pass rush. Wootton does have two tackles in the run game and has set the edge will in the run game.
I wonder if Wootton is legitimately on the roster bubble.
Coverage has been shaky as a result of the lack of a pass rush.
Brian Price who could start has been very good in this game, he so strong he can collapse the pocket with his strength and teams have to get two to three bodies on him to get movement in the run game.
Linebackers have been average have made some good plays and some fills on defense. Xavier Adibi making a big sack on McCoy, Jabara Williams with good play in the run game.
Great concentration by Britton Golden the ball deflected up into the air but he comes down with the catch. 2nd and 2.
Official review trying to determine of Golden kept his body in bounds. Pass is ruled incomplete, good effort by Golden comes up just short.
Allen from four yards deep on the kickoff return gets 21 yards up to the 17 yard line.
Bears first down, Browns have 12 men on the field Bears go to first and five.
Lorenzo Booker gets outside and picks up 16 yards. Very good run...I have no idea who wins this fourth RB job, they are both deserving at this point.
Both Booker and Allen are getting the most of their opportunities.
More good pass blocking.
Good power run by the Browns gets them down to the two yard line. Bears defense was out muscled on that play.
First and goal now defense smashes down the middle of the offensive line nowhere to run. Second and goal.
Play action touchdown by Seneca Wallace Isaiah Frey on the coverage.
Dane Sanzenbacher's touchdown reception that put the Bears ahead 7-0
Jason Miller/Getty Images
JT Thomas gets out of his gap and the running back gets good yards by bouncing it outside. Thomas collapsed down hard inside from his linebacker spot which allowed the back side cut for a first down run.
Bears not getting much pressure from their defensive ends. Would like to see more from Corey Wootton, Wallace play action gets a good pass down the field.
Gain of 19 yards on the run by Wallace, two big plays in a row by the Browns on offense.
Cheta Ozougwu got good pressure on Wallace but he broke contain and it resulted in the big run.
