Arsenal Transfer News: Arsene Wenger's Confidence Ensures Theo Walcott Will Stay
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been one cool customer this summer, never overreacting or showing any doubt.
According to The Mirror's Neil McLeman, Wenger has described himself as "relaxed" about the final day of the transfer window.
Despite star forward Theo Walcott entering the last year of his deal with the Gunners, Wenger isn't letting the thought of failure enter his mind.

Here is Wenger on Walcott's status per McLeman's Thursday report:
"His situation is simple - that he will stay with us and play for us. Theo has one year to go and that is simple. We have to find an agreement with him on whether to extend the contract for a longer period or not. That is what we want to do and I think Theo loves the club. Contrary to what some media write he is not obsessed by money, there is just a little difference we hope we can, at some stage, find an agreement with. That's it basically.
"
Clearly, Wenger is confident that Arsenal and Walcott will agree to an extension before the end of the season.
That confidence all but ensures that Walcott will be a member of the Gunners for not just this season, but for years to come.
The English stud has certainly proven his worth for the Premier League club, netting 26 goals in 151 EPL appearances for Arsenal dating back to 2006.
Plus, he's still young and has yet to reach his ceiling at only age 23. Walcott won't turn 24 until March, which means he likely has more than a decade of elite play left in him — barring any devastating injuries.
Speaking of injury, Walcott has avoided being hampered by any nagging injuries throughout his career, which bodes well for him becoming a long-term investment for the Gunners.
Wenger also pointed out that Arsenal have already made their key additions this summer by adding Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla along with European forwards Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud.
Based on the fact that Wenger and Arsenal have spent so much to build and begin the post-Robin van Persie era on a high note, it wouldn't make sense for them to give up the pursuit of locking Walcott in long-term.
There should be no worries that Walcott will leave Arsenal anytime soon. Wenger has demonstrated great poise at the helm of the club, and that leadership and confidence ensures that the two sides will agree to continue their partnership.
