Eagle-eyed readers, Nottingham Forest fans and Championship enthusiasts will have already seen this goal. For the rest of us—poseurs, clearly—thankfully, there are these here interwebs.
With that introduction in mind, let's hand it over to YouTube and Lewis McGugan.
McGugan is a 23-year-old midfielder who appeared for England at the U-17 and U-19 levels. He wears the No. 10 shirt for the Reds, and when he does stuff like this, it's easy to see why.
In the video above, we see McGugan scoring a gorgeous golazo against recently demoted Bolton on Friday in the Championship. The match finished 2-2, and this was clearly the highlight of the night.
Watch as McGugan's teammates win the ball in the midfield and tee him up for a shot about 30 yards from goal. McGugan lines himself up and unleashes an unstoppable piledriver into the top corner.
That's Premier League quality right there. Now the question is: Can he keep it up?
McGugan tallied five league goals last season after scoring 13 in 2010-11. If Forest are to make a sustained run at promotion, he'll have to be at his best.
Three matches into the new season, Forest sit eighth in the table with five points. The top two teams are promoted automatically from the Championship to the Premier League, with the third- through sixth-placed teams entering the playoffs.
Bolton, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, are currently 13th.
It's a young season yet. So maybe there's more in store from McGugan and Forest?
