Utah Utes Football: 'Are U Ready' Trailer for 2012 Season
"Are U Ready?"
Well, after waiting over seven months since the Utah Utes' come-from-behind win (30-27) over Georgia Tech in the Sun Bowl, the answer is, yes, we are ready.
The above trailer, produced by High Point Media Group, previews the excitement for the upcoming season—and second in the PAC-12.
In just nine calendar days, the Utes host Northern Colorado at Rice-Eccles Stadium (click here to view the entire schedule). And on Saturday, Sept. 22, conference play kicks off at Arizona State.
Expectations continue to grow as the season approaches. In an article by Pat Forde of Yahoo! Sports, Utah is ranked 25th and pegged as a "surprise team." Several other publications also rank them in the top 25, while the recently-released AP Poll has the Utes falling to the "Others Receiving Votes" section.
Hard to argue with that. They return 16 starters—nine on offense, seven on defense—and welcome in a recruiting class expected to contribute right away.
Starting quarterback—for how long, who knows?—Jordan Wynn is pleased with the team's progress. "It's been an intense camp. We have our goals. We want to win the Pac-12 and so we're out here working, trying to get it."
So, do the Utes have what it takes to reach these lofty goals?
Head coach Kyle Whittingham thinks so, but knows the offense must improve for that to happen.
We expect to be one prolific team on offense. We think we have to be, if we’re going to win the Pac-12 South, which is our goal. It’s got to be more than just great defense. We need more production offensively. Brian (offensive coordinator Johnson) has tweaked things. We’re gravitating back to what we do prior to Norm’s (Chow) arrival. That’s to spread the offense, get the ball in space a little more, and that’s got to happen. If we’re going to contend, we need to be more productive on offense than we were last year.
So, if you're not ready for the season, get ready.
