Brazilian full-back Maicon has long been linked with the Stamford Bridge, club and Sky Sports is reporting a potential move is still in the making.

With less than two weeks left in the transfer window, Chelsea could be looking to add another right-back following the free-transfer departure of Jose Boswinga to London rivals Queens Park Rangers.

Nothing is set in stone, but Maicon would fill a position of need for Chelsea, and his club Inter Milan have for the first time hinted that the idea of his departure isn't quite as absurd as first thought.

As per Sky Sports, Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni said of Maicon's future:

"Maicon is the strongest right-back in the world. We all are fond of him, all at Inter love him.

"However, for some evaluations, affection does not count so much. Let's see what happens in the coming days."

Bransilav Ivanovic is the current right-back, but he is a more natural fit for the centre of defense, and so it is no surprise that Chelsea have been linked with some very good right-backs.

Following some big-money spending on young stars like Eden Hazard and Oscar, a veteran defensive recruit could really help the London club in their efforts to win some major trophies.

Maicon's agent was in London for talks with the club's chiefs back in July, according to Metro.

Furthermore, the Daily Mail also reported that Chelsea were in the hunt after Real Madrid didn't want to pay the £6 million asking price.

Roberto Di Matteo expects some new faces, so Maicon could be a great get if reports are true.
