Derrick Green visited Auburn over the weekend, and as is a custom in recruiting trips, he made the place seem a level above.
Auburn have been known to be Michigan's main rival in vying for the 5-star running back's services, but only now does it really resonate just how much of a threat the Tigers have become.
This was his second visit, and Bryan Matthews of 247sports.com highlights just how impressed he was:
"Green said he and his parents both got "that feeling" about Auburn again on their second trip. He said Auburn is definitely in-line to be one of his official visits. He still has a Top 6 of Auburn, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee and Virginia Tech, but he wants to go home and talk things over with his family and coaches about narrowing down the list and when he wants to make a decision. He wasn't sure of Georgia was going to move up into his top group—he visited there Friday—but that was another thing they plan to discuss when they get home."
Of course, this doesn't mean Michigan are out of it, only that I think the verbal commitment will come long before his scheduled official visit to Michigan on October 19th.
I'm confident his decision will come in the next fortnight. The picture of him in an Auburn Jersey holding the Heisman Trophy aloft can't fill anyone with much confidence.
Nevertheless, I'm sure Auburn fans feel just as threatened by the Wolverines.
Michigan appeared to be the obvious favourite for Green only a few days ago, but judging by his comments, that may not be the case anymore.
It's clear that Auburn and Michigan are neck and neck at the moment, and I fully expect him to make his choice a lot sooner than people are expecting.
In other news, Rivals.com has recognised the skills of quarterback Shane Morris and made him a 5-star prospect today.
