This Weekend in SEC Baseball: Feb. 27-Mar. 1
Wednesday proved to be a pleasant night for all eight SEC teams that were in action, with four teams remaining perfect on the season. Here is a recap of this week’s action and a look ahead to the weekend:
The Crimson Tide won Wednesday night’s game on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th. The win completed the two-game sweep of Nicholls State in Tuscaloosa.
The Razorbacks bounced back after Tuesday’s loss to beat Kansas 9-8 in the 10th inning on a walk-off home run by sophomore Jacob House.
The Gators drilled three homers, including a grand slam, to win the series against Eastern Michigan in Gainesville.
Bryce Massanari went 2-for-3, including a grand slam in the third inning, as the Bulldogs completed a series sweep over Presbyterian with an 11-4 victory in Athens.
The Bulldogs doubled in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth against Mississippi Valley State for a 4-3 victory.
The Rebels smashed out 15 hits and scored 11 runs to sweep the midweek series over Central Arkansas.
The Tigers pounded out 14 hits in front of 5,828 fans in the new Alex Box Stadium to beat cross-town rival Southern 11-5.
The Commodores snapped a two-game losing streak with a 10-7 win over Western Kentucky.
This weekend in SEC Baseball:
Alabama (3-2) hosts Illinois-Chicago in a four-game series in Tuscaloosa (double-header scheduled for Saturday).
Arkansas (4-1) hosts Western Illinois in a three-game series at Baum Stadium in Fayetteville.
Auburn (2-2) travels to Florida State for a two-game series on Thursday and Friday, then the Seminoles travel to Auburn for contests on Saturday and Sunday.
Florida (5-0) hosts in-state rival Miami in a three-game series in Gainesville.
Kentucky (2-2) hosts Western Michigan in a four-game series in Lexington (double-header scheduled for Saturday).
LSU (4-0) hosts Central Florida in a three-game series at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.
Mississippi State (5-1) hosts Nicholls State in a three-game series in Starkville.
Ole Miss (3-2) hosts TCU in a three-game series in newly remodeled Oxford-University Stadium.
South Carolina (3-0) travels to Clemson on Saturday, before hosting the Tigers on Sunday.
Tennessee (1-2) travels to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the Baseball at the Beach tournament.
Vanderbilt (2-3) welcomes Vermont to Nashville for a three-game series.
