Offensive tackle Zach Hannon has just confirmed on twitter that he will be committing to the University of Nebraska.
This is a great pickup for the coaching staff after they missed out on offensive line prospect Sean Harlow to Washington only last week.
Hannon is a consensus 3-star prospect with great size at 6'5" and 300-pounds.
Arkansas was the only other team under consideration by Hannon, and Nebraska did well in beating out the team tipped to receive his verbal.
Hannon too realized Nebraska fans thought he was never coming, telling Michael Bruntz of 247sports.com: “For Nebraska's sake, for the people on the message board's sake, I think everybody is counting me out and saying I'm sold on Arkansas. Like I've been saying, I'm still 50/50. I'm not out of the game for Nebraska at all.”
So true after all.
Other great news comes with the increased possibility of another commitment.
Defensive end Jamone Boyd is a friend of Hannon's, and they both planned on attending the same school with Hannon telling Otis Kirk of 247sports.com: “I went down there with a very good friend who could commit at the same time I do. We want to go to the same college and there's a good chance we will commit at the same time.”
Boyd will most likely visit Nebraska soon.
Although Hannon has plenty of time to change his mind, it is nice to finally see a decision from him after he went back on his decision date several times.
But he has to make the right decision and having patience is a virtue I guess.
