Who's next for Miguel Cotto?

Here are some possible prospects for him to fight.

Sugar Shane Mosley

Coming off a great KO win over Antonio Margarito, he regains the WBA welterweight title and is looking sharper than ever. He did lost to Cotto once already, butĀ I think now he would come back with a different game plan and make it a good fight worth watching, as well as making a step to unifying the champ in the welterweight division.

Also just came off a tough fight against Luis Callazo, which was a battle from start to finish; he managed to win by decision after the 12th. This fight showed that he can go the distance and throw punches throughout 12. He's also the WBC titleholder rankedĀ number four by Ring magazine,Ā which would alsoĀ help to unify theĀ champ as well. Berto is young fast and has power; he and Cotto would be a great matchup.

Joshua Clottey

Not a lot of talk going around about this guy, which there should be right now. He's ranked number three behind Cotto and is also the IBF titleholder. His win over Zab Judah wasn't impressive, but he did show heĀ was the better fighter, plus Zab had to resort to a headbutt because he was getting beat down. Overall he could be a good matchup for Cotto.

Pac-MAN (if he beats Ricky Hatton)

This would not only be a great fight but would bring the type of "countryman vs. countryman" element that Hatton and Pacman is sure to bring. Cotto, though not known for his speed, definitely has the skill and the smooth steady pressure to make a very hard fight for Pacman.

Mayweather vs. Cotto would be nice, but we all know how long the whole boxing world has been calling for that fight, and we also know where Mayweather's heart is at. He would never take that fight because he would get embarrassed.

I've also heard Kermit Cintron's name floated around, but after his last sorry ass performance, I think he should be relegated to undercard fights. He is very overhyped and complains about getting hit in the back of the head and butted more than he actually fights.

In my opinion, it's either Mosley or Berto. Let's quit the BS and get one champ in this talent-packed division.
