Arsenal Transfer News: Signing of Santi Cazorla Won't Change RVP's Mind
Arsenal can make all the signings it wants, but it's gotten to the point of no return for Robin van Persie.
The Gunners, coming off a third-place finish in the Premier League, made their third significant signing of the summer on Tuesday when Spain midfielder Santi Cazorla transferred for £15 million from Malaga (per ESPN).
This came after Arsenal had already acquired Germany's Lukas Podolski and Montpellier striker Oliver Giroud.

But Van Persie has already stated his case, claiming that Arsenal lacks the desire to be a top club next season in the Premier League, and that is unlikely to change. Once you send out a statement condemning a club's motivation, that tends to be the last straw.
Of course, that won't keep Arsene Wenger from holding Van Persie against his will for the final year of his contract if other clubs (such as Juventus, Manchester United and Manchester City) don't meet the £25 million demand sought by the Gunners.
That sets up a potentially tumultuous and emotional season for Arsenal in 2012-2013, a season that could see Van Persie unmotivated and unhappy.
And that does nobody any good.
I can't blame Arsenal for holding out for the best offer for Van Persie, given he's a superstar, but at some point you have to count your losses and possibly lower your demand for the 29-year-old, particularly when it comes to Juventus.
Unlike United and City, Juventus isn't in the same league as Arsenal. In that sense, sending Van Persie to Juventus won't hurt you twofold.
Arsenal has done well to add talent this summer—just enough talent to start a new era without Van Persie.
It's time to move on at Emirates.
