Arsenal Transfer Report: Could Gaston Ramirez Be Heading to Arsenal?
Bologna's wantaway attacking midfielder Gaston Ramirez is keen on a move to the Premier League it seems.
Although links with Arsenal are mere speculation at the moment, Ramirez's agent Pablo Betancourt revealed to Calcio Mercato that he is currently in London negotiating a possible transfer with a top club (h/t ESPN).
"Gaston is ready to leave Italy—so much so I am in London for talks with a Premier League club," he said. "He is one of the most important players in Uruguay, so there are no shortage of offers."
Although already linked with Liverpool, Betancourt's comments suggest that a new team has entered the race for the player's signing, Arsenal and Tottenham being the chief suspects.
Although Bologna are prepared to sell Ramirez, they still value the Uruguayan between £15 million and £20 million.
At only 21 years of age, Ramirez has represented his country nine times, and is currently in England for the Olympic Soccer tournament.
Last season for Bologna he scored an impressive eight goals in thirty-two Serie A appearances, whilst racking up many more assists.
He is quick, nimble and very skillful.
He is capable of playing on either flank as well as through the middle, whose technique may have caught Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's eye, as he looks to rejuvenate his squad ahead of what will likely prove a difficult season.
With Dutch striker Robin van Persie set to leave, players old and new will be required to step up if the team want to challenge for the Premier League trophy.
The addition of Gaston Ramirez may prove decisive come May.
