Brendan Rodgers suffered his first defeat as Liverpool manager as his side was defeated 2-1 by A.S. Roma at Fenway Park, the home of baseball team Boston Red Sox, in the club's second preseason friendly.
After a goalless first half, an Erik Lamela-inspired Roma side took a two goal lead thanks to strikes from close range from American midfielder Michael Bradley and forward Alessandro Florenzi.
Charlie Adam scored the Reds' consolation goal with 10 minutes of the match remaining.
Despite the defeat, which was a secondary matter really, there were plenty of positives both tactically and technically for Rodgers and Liverpool to take from the match.
Although the Euro 2012 players were in training this week, none took part in the match except for Daniel Agger who had returned earlier than the Italian and English players.
Even so, 22 Liverpool players took part in the match as Rodgers continued giving minutes to as many players as possible.
Here are the Reds' best six performers on the night.
