New York Rangers Will Make The Playoffs

Kevin PapaCorrespondent IFebruary 19, 2009

I know the headline seems like a far stretch, but I believe in this team. Despite almost being knocked out of the playoff hunt, this team has the potential to do whatever they want, whenever they want.

They have every thing that is essential in a championship team. They have young talent that will efficiently provide the scoring and dirty work when called upon, and they posses a boatload of veteran leadership that can hopefully guide this team to victory.

With the exception of the recent play Tom Renney is also an above average coach who thinks outside the box and can be successful with the right team.

But that's just it: the right team.

If they started playing the way they did in October, with intensity and value to their game, they would be at the top of the standings where they should be.

Although 68 points isn't amazing, they're still in the playoff picture for now.

I have a strange gut feeling this team will pull themselves up and start rolling once again. Chris Drury and Scott Gomez will lead this team the way they should and the younger players will respond.

I believe in this team, struggling or not. If you don't believe in them, stop reading because I'll be saying "I told you so" when they make the conference finals.

If you think I'm crazy for even mentioning "Rangers" with "playoffs" the way they're playing as of late, you're probably justified to.

But when they get that fire back that they once possessed in their game and the passion they played with, that's when the wins will start coming.

Think I'm wrong? Please, tell me what your prediction of this team's fate this year is in the comments box below.
