Speculation is increasing as to whether or not Robin van Persie will sign for Manchester City or not.

Reports from BBC confirm that Arsenal have received offer from City, Manchester United and Juventus for the in-demand Dutchman.

Van Persie was in imperious form during his last season in the Premier League, notching 30 goals in 38 appearances.

Roberto Mancini seems to be interested in Van Persie. Butt the question is would he really improve Manchester City’s forward options?

They already have Sergio Aguero, who is without doubt Mancini’s No. 1 striker. The Argentine is a truly world-class footballer who enjoyed a fantastic first season in English football. Capped off by scoring the goal that won City the Premier League title.

They also have Mario Balotelli, who is returning to the squad after having a very impressive Euro 2012 with Italy, and Edin Dzeko, who had a great goal scoring record last season and works very well up alongside Aguero.

The man van Persie would most likely replace is Carlos Tevez. The Argentine hit man returned to the City fold towards the end of last season and played a pivotal role during the end of the season.

Tevez though has reiterated his desire to stay with City and his love hate relationship with Mancini seems to have been resolved for the time being at least.

So the question is who would you rather have in your side? Van Persie? Or Tevez?

Tevez would have the slight advantage for me. He seems settled at City again with compatriots Aguero and Pablo Zabaleta around him.

There were also signs last season of a great partnership forming between him and Aguero, and it would be great to see what they could produce this season.

His work-rate and his goal scoring abilities should ensure Tevez is given a fair chance by Mancini this season, and I fully expect to see him and Aguero starting the season together.

I think Robin van Persie is a superb footballer, and I do think he will be signed by Roberto Mancini, but with what Manchester City already have at their disposal, a move elsewhere could be beneficial for van Persie.
