To You, Ken Griffey Jr., but You Really Missed the Ball Here

The Foundations, Build me up Buttercup

Why do you build me up (Build me up)

Buttercup baby just to let me down (Let me down)

And mess me around

And then worst of all (Worst of all)

You never call baby

When you say you will (Say you will)

But I love you still I need you (I need you)

More than anyone darlin'

You know that I have from the start

So build me up (Build me up)

Buttercup

Don't break my heart

I'll be over at ten

You tell me time and again

But you're late

I wait around and then I went to the door

I can't take any more

It's not you

You let me down again

Baby Baby

Try to find a little time

And I'll make you happy

I'll be home

I'll be waiting beside the phone

Waiting for you.

Why do you build me up....

To you I'm a toy

But I could be the boy

You adore

If you'd just let me know

Although you're untrue

I'm attracted to you

All the more

Why do I need you so Baby Baby.....

ooh ooh ooh

Why do build me up .....

(thanks to ST Lyrics)

Well, the saga is over.

Ken Griffey Jr. is a f%#@in Mariner.

Congratulations Ben Brown, you were right, although all reasonable evidence pointed to him wearing a Tomahawk, Griffey will be patrolling the outfield, DH spot, and bench at Safeco.

Hey, I mentioned it in "Ken Griffey Jr.: The Man, The Mariner?, The Brave?", whoever comes in second here should be satisfied with landing Garret Anderson (at least that's who I'm leaning towards over Brandon Jones to be platooning with Matt Diaz next year), so I guess that I'm really not going to complain about a 39-year-old outfielder leaving us for a team that's going to lose 90 games next year.

Well, I'm about to change "Ken Griffey Jr." to Garret Anderson in all of my articles now, go ahead M fans, bask in the glory of the mediocrity that is your team.

(no anger toward any of you personally, though)

Are you going to blame Frank Wren for this?

  • Yes, the man's incompetent beyond the farthest extent of the word
  • No, Griff just wanted that nostalgia that will go along with him going to Seattle, nothing Wren could do about it
