WWE Money in the Bank 2012: Why John Cena Will Capture WWE Title Again

Matt DunnCorrespondent IJuly 16, 2012

With his Money in the Bank victory Sunday night, John Cena earned a shot to reclaim the WWE Championship belt for the 11th time. Cena came away from the night the victor after having to go through four former WWE Champs in a Ladder Match that was as physically demanding as it was entertaining.

Cena was able to overcome The Big Show, Chris Jericho, Kane and surprise addition The Miz to walk away with the opportunity to challenge CM Punk for the WWE Title any time for the next 365 days.

Cena entered the match as the only participant who had never taken part in a Money in the Bank match since the match was created at Wrestlemania XXI, with Kane and The Miz having won before.

After dropping The Big Show early in the match with an Attitude Adjustment, it was in fact The Big Show who Cena had to fend off to take the briefcase, using the case itself to block a WMD, before ripping the handle off to emerge victorious.

With the opportunity now at his disposal to use literally any time he wants (at least for the next year) the question is what will Cena do?

I think Cena will take his time with this. After injuring himself in a match against Brock Lesnar in earlier this year, while his performance last night certainly showed he isn't still hurt, last night couldn't have done him any favors. After a match like that it will take him a little while to recover and even if he feels well enough to compete, he should wait until he is 100% healthy before using his contract.

If the champion is still CM Punk at that time, then I fully expect Cena to become the WWE Champion once again. No offense to CM but Cena is the much bigger name here and he is an unquestioned superstar in the WWE. Plus you have to factor in the fact that he has already won the title ten times before, so he knows what it takes to become a champion, and you have the makings of a pretty epic showdown.

I don't know when it will be or who Cena will be facing necessarily, but what I can assure you is that John Cena will be well rested and ready to fight and if I had to guess I'd say at the end of that contest he will be hoisting the WWE Champions belt above his head for the 11th time.
