Tour De France Schedule: Bradley Wiggins and Riders to Watch During Stage 14

Ben ChodosJun 7, 2018

The Tour De France is nearing the final stages, and Bradley Wiggins is wearing the yellow jersey as the action heats up.

Stage 14 kicks off at 6:25 a.m. ET, and all the scheduling information can be found at LeTour.fr.

Andre Greipel won his third stage of the tournament on July 14, but he is nearly two hours behind Wiggins.

Wiggins holds a two-minute, five-second lead over Christopher Froome, his teammate and compatriot.

Here are the riders to watch on July 15 and as the race heads towards Paris.

Bradley Wiggins

Wiggins was one of the favorites heading into the 20-stage race, and he has been proving exactly why this was the case.

The British rider took the yellow jersey after Stage 7, the first trip to the mountains, and continues to lead.

As noted by the Los Angeles Times, he is the first Briton in 12 years to lead the Tour.

If he wins, he will be the first person from his country to do so, and it certainly seems like history will be made when the race is over.

Vincenzo Nibali

Nibali has ridden extremely well at the Tour thus far, and he is two minutes and 23 seconds behind Wiggins.

He too was viewed as a favorite before the race, and the intense competitions caused sparks to fly earlier this week between the Italian and his British rival.

Nibali said, "Wiggins looked at me at the finish and I really did not like the way he did it. He also gestured with his hand in an unpleasant way. But I'm speaking about respect, about tradition. We are not footballers," via Brendan Gallagher of the Sydney Morning Herald.

The situation has calmed down since the incident, but the pressure of the final few stages could cause this feud to intensify.

Cadel Evans

The previous year’s champion should never be counted out at the Tour, and Evans is sitting in fourth place, three minutes and 19 seconds behind Wiggins.

The Aussie excels in the mountains, and Stage 14 will feature daunting climbs with gradients as steep as 18 percent

The formidable terrain could provide Evans with the perfect opportunity to make his move on Wiggins.

Evans’ performance should not be missed, as this could prove to be a pivotal point in his title defense.
