Penn State 2010 Recruiting Board

◊ Here's an early look at Penn State's recruiting efforts for 2010. It should be a relatively small class compared to the 27 the Lions took this year.

Notes: Penn State might only have 16 or 17 scholarships to offer in 2010. That also is depending on how many players come back for fifth season or transfer. So, the Paul Jones and Mike Hull commitments were very important steps to giving this class an early identity, along with some depth, but there's still a long way to go.

The most noticeable thing about this class is the six defensive line prospects that have been offered so far. These are easily directly related to Jared Odrick's graduation following 2009, and Ollie Ogbu and Abe Koroma's graduations in 2010.

Penn State only took three defensive linemen in the 2009 class, as defensive back and receiver were bigger needs. Also interesting to note is the recruitment of four linebackers for the 2010 class. It's a very real possibility that if Navorro Bowman has another season like 2008, he could leave early for the NFL, along with the graduations of Josh Hull and Sean Lee.

Penn State would like to sign another quarterback, and early reports hint that losing Anthony Gonzalez is not an option.
