Racing Roulette: $17 Tickets Gone In 15 Minutes
It may have been cold Sunday night, but fans camped out near Atlanta Motor Speedway to take part in the track's second annual Racing Roulette promotion.
The promotion began at 9 a.m. Monday morning and allowed lucky fans to purchase tickets for $17—the number of the winning car Roush Fenway's Matt Kenseth drove to Victory Lane in Sunday's 51st running of the Daytona 500.
Amber Lee, of McDonough, Georgia, was first in line for the promotion Monday. She had arrived at 1:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon (missing the entire Daytona 500?) and camped overnight to be sure she got the sweet deal.
The promotion was only eligible on the first 1,000 tickets sold for the Kobalt Tools 500 on March 8 at one of NASCAR's fastest ovals. According to track organizers, all tickets were sold in approximately 15 minutes.
Lee was the first—but obviously not the only—enthusiastic fan in the long line.
The promotion continues through 1 p.m. today in which fans can still buy one regular-priced $95 ticket and get the second for $17.
• To purchase a ticket fans can call the Atlanta Motor Speedway ticket office at (877) 9-AMS-TIX (877-926-7849), by visiting the tracks Web site or by contacting their local Ticketmaster retailer.
