Caol Uno vs. Spencer Fisher at UFC 99 [Rumor]

Craig JolicoeurFeb 16, 2009

A new report from MMAJunkie.com suggests that lightweight Caol Uno may be making his return to the UFC at UFC 99 this June.

Uno, who last fought in the UFC back at UFC 44 in 2003, is expected to make his return against Spencer Fisher.

Uno spent his early professional career in the Japanese Shooto promotion before joining the UFC in 2000. His first UFC fight was for the bantamweight title at UFC 30. Uno lost that fight to Jens Pulver, but put on a strong showing and was awarded another title shot, this time against BJ Penn two years later.

Penn and Uno put on an excellent performance, but the fight ended in a draw and was the last fight in the lightweight division before the UFC reinstated the 155 lb. weight-class two years ago.

Since that time, Uno has spent the majority of his career fighting in the K-1 Hero’s promotion, and most recently competed in the DREAM 2008 lightweight grand prix.

Caol Uno's last fight was a unanimous decision loss to Shinya Aoki in July of 2008.

Spencer Fisher last fought at UFC 90 last October where he defeated Shannon Gugerty via submission.

UFC 99 is currently scheduled to take place in Cologne, Germany on June 13th. No other fights have yet been announced.
