Tightrope Walk Video: Watch Chinese Acrobat Fall Hundreds of Feet
For people more interested in people failing at tightrope walking rather than succeeding, we give you this amazing video.
The New York Post reports a Chinese Dawa Zi tightrope walker named Aisikaier fell hundreds of feet Sunday but managed to walk away without serious injury.
Aisikaier was walking on the tightrope backwards while blindfolded, a precarious situation that ended poorly for him.
The YouTube description has some more information on this bizarre and frightening story.
"Aisikaier took no safety precautions during the attempted crossing and held only a six metre pole for balance...He was just 40 metres (131 feet) from the end of the 700-metre (2,297 feet) walk when he lost his footing and fell. Aisikaier was found by rescuers and brought to safety.
"
The report issues some points of the walk topped out at 200 meters in height, so we applaud this man on his timing if not his balance.
A fall any earlier would presumably have been deadly.
I have no idea how he came away unscathed, but I hope he sticks to walking on the ground, where falling only results in a scrape and some bystanders chuckling at your expense.
For those enamored with the Niagara Falls walk, this is how you do high drama.
