Deron Williams Will Re-Sign with Brooklyn Nets

Jamal WilburgJul 3, 2012

The Deron Williams saga is likely over.

After all of the speculation about whether the free-agent point guard would remain with the Brooklyn Nets or possibly take his talents to the Dallas Mavericks, he sends out a tweet to announce his decision.

"

Made a very tough decision today....

"

Following those simple words was a link to a picture of the Brooklyn Nets logo. It can only be assumed that this tweet means that he will be returning to the Nets next season.

According to the Twitter account of Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, Williams and the Nets agreed to a five-year deal worth $100 million.

It's amazing how much of a role Twitter continues to play in the sports landscape. In the same manner Williams chose to use the social network to announce his future plans, one has to wonder how leagues and players will continue to use the platform.

I wonder how different we would view Lebron James' decision had he sent it out via Twitter.
