Pro Wrestling's Worst Commentators Of This Era: A Review

Kale SherarFeb 14, 2009

Over the course of the last several years, we have heard many voices call pro wrestling matches.  Here, I plan to review the worst.

First, we look at Michael Cole.  Where do I start?  He's bland, unappealing, annoying, and seems to not know what he's calling.  It pains me to watch RAW now, and even many pay-per-views because of his terrible commentating.  He was slightly better on SmackDown with Tazz and JBL, mainly due to the fact that the commentary was edited in post-production.  With Coach and Foley though, he tanked, and he continues to fail to live up to my standards every week on Raw.

Second, we have Mike Adamle.  This idiot made Cole look like JR.  Adamle clearly had little to no education on wrestling moves, and many times, Tazz had to correct him as he would botch the DDT and think it was a piledriver.  Enough said.

Third, we have the ever talented Don West.  Like Cole, he is a moron.  He is constantly yelling, he screws up the names of moves and wrestlers, he makes lame-ass jokes, and just sounds plain unintelligent when it comes to wrestling.  I can stand Mike Tenay, but I feel he would benefit from having someone better with him on commentary. Cough*Foley*Cough

Last, we have Todd Grisham.  Now, he is not as bad as the previous three, in fact, he is in a league above them.  Unfortunately, he is still in the league below JR, Tazz, Striker, and King.  Don't get me wrong, him and Striker started out great, but he just seems to have gone sour over the last six or eight weeks.  He makes terrible conversation transitions, terrible jokes (ala Cole and West), and sounds quite unenthusiastic at points (Christian's return, for example).  Todd has potential, he just must realize it.

That's my rant for this evening, hope you all enjoyed.  Oh, and an honourable mention to Tony Schiavone for his infamous "That'll put some butts in the seats" line.

Way to have helped kill WCW Tony, Russo will always be proud.
