Manchester United Transfer News: Leighton Baines Not a Good LB for United
Everton star Leighton Baines would not be a good addition to the Manchester United defense as it continues its summer spending after a second-place finish in the Premier League this past season.
According to the Mirror, United and Everton cannot agree on a transfer fee at the moment.
"The Toffees value Baines at £20million, but United are unwilling to pay that much for the 27-year-old.
They view a fee of around £15m as more realistic.
Ferguson would like to have Baines on board before July 16 - the day United embark on their pre-season tour to South Africa and China.

The lack of depth at the left-back position is a problem for United. French star Patrice Evra has been as consistent as they come at left-back for many years, but at age 31, he won't be a world-class player for much longer.
However, Baines is 27 and certainly not a young player himself. He is overpriced and not worth United's money when it can get a younger and cheaper left-back by looking elsewhere.
Baines had a phenomenal season for the Toffees in 2011-12 and was probably the best left-back in the entire Premier League throughout the year. Because of this, Everton will drive up his price and United should not meet its demands.
Evra is capable of playing at a high level for another year or two, which will give Sir Alex Ferguson plenty of time to find the left-back of the future at Old Trafford. Baines is not the best option for the Red Devils going forward.
