New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees hasn't thrown a pass this offseason, at least not at the official team training facility, because he’s holding out after being slapped with the franchise tag. Brees wants a long-term deal before he steps back onto the field in 2012.
In the meantime, Brees is keeping busy bringing a sandwich shop to Uptown, devoting time to PACE (Protecting Athletes Through Concussion Education) and driving a cab in New York City to raise awareness of head trauma in youth sports.
Brees spent time driving passengers around the city peppering them with questions about concussions in youth sports. After the cab ride, Brees handed out sporting goods from Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Highlights from Who Dat Cabbie?!
Question: “Wait. Why are you driving a taxi cab?”
Brees: “Just for fun. It gives me something to do, it keeps me busy, it keeps my reaction time quick.”
--
Pedestrians (as Brees’ taxi drives by): “Brees! Who Dat!”
Brees: “The Who Dat Nation is everywhere.”
Talk about a memorable cab ride.
