Arsenal Transfer Rumors: Gunners Should Send Nicklas Bendtner on His Way
Nicklas Bendtner appears destined to depart Arsenal this summer, and frankly, the Gunners should let him go on his way without much resistance.
From the Daily Mail:
"Out-of-favour Nicklas Bendtner is close to agreeing a move away from Arsenal.
The 24-year-old striker, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland, has attracted 'global interest' after impressing for Denmark at the European Championship.
Bendtner's agent Jesper Lynghus told Denmark newspaper bold.dk: 'The interest is overwhelming, just as it should be after the way Nicklas performed at Euro 2012.

Of course, Bendtner's good form on the national stage is no surprise—he consistently plays at a much higher level for Denmark than he does on the club level. He's scored three goals and tallied two assists in six starts for Denmark between this year's Euro Cup and the 2010 World Cup, so he delivers for his countrymen.
And he played fairly well in his loan to Sunderland, netting eight goals and five assists in 28 appearances.
But he's clearly fallen out of favor at the Emirates. With the emergence of Robin van Persie as one of soccer's elite strikers over the past two years (assuming he sticks around) and the additions of Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski, there really isn't a place for Bendtner anyway.
Yes, he's deadly in the air and is a better passer than people give him credit for. But he's also a wildly inconsistent finisher, and let's be honest—before this summer, the Gunners had plenty of those already on the roster.
I'm not sure about this "global interest"—don't you just love agents?—but there is at least one place where that interest shouldn't extend, and that is at the Emirates in Northern London.
Let Bendtner underachieve and bewilder with his bizarre behavior elsewhere. The Gunners have bigger fish to fry.
