Arsenal Transfer News: Departure of Robin van Persie Would Cripple Gunners
Arsenal would be ammo-less without Robin van Persie.
The Gunners are so close to becoming an elite Premier League football club, but losing Van Persie would prevent that from happening. He’s their best goal scorer by far, and without him, they wouldn’t have the firepower to compete with Manchester United and Manchester City.
Steve Stammers of The Mirror reported some bad news for Arsenal fans this past week. According to Stammers, the Gunners are willing to offer Van Persie a contract worth £130,000 a week. That may not be enough to satisfy him, though.

Arsenal is reportedly willing to sell their striker for £30 million if it isn't, according to Stammers. Chairman Peter Hill-Wood apparently admitted that the Gunners don't have the money to match an offer of £250,000 a week by a rival.
That can’t happen for Arsenal to stay near the top of the standings. Van Persie scored 36 total goals in a Gunner uniform in the 2011-2012 campaign. The next best player at putting a dent in the scoreboard on the club? Theo Walcott with just nine.
Van Persie also finished tied for second on the team in assists with nine. The adverse aftermath that would result from his loss can’t be understated.
Despite the potential disaster, Arsène Wenger isn’t the least bit worried. According to The Telegraph, Wenger is 100 percent sold that Van Persie isn’t going anywhere, at least not to Juventus. He said:
"If you want to know why I am so certain is that Robin will remain with us is because there is no reason in this world why a great player like Van Persie should go and play for you, in Italy and in your competition. Your football (Serie A) is at an inferior level to the Premier League.
"
Nothing makes the Transfer Window more exciting than conflicting reports. Hopefully for the Gunners’ sake, Wegner isn’t the one who’s misinformed.
