No Way Out Preview: Randy Orton Vs. Shane McMahon (No Holds Barred Match)
It was the punt heard around the world. Randy Orton kicked the chairman of the WWE, Vince McMahon into oblivion on Monday Night RAW a few weeks ago.
Shocked by his actions, Orton came on RAW the next week to reveal that he has Intermittent Explosive Disorder or IED a condition that "flares" up when Orton is provoked or threatened.
Surrounded by his legal team Orton threatened to sue the WWE if fired and went as far as to even threaten to file an injunction that would cancel Wrestlemania.
Surely Orton would be fired for his actions, right?
"We have bigger plans," were the words uttered to Orton by Stephanie McMahon.
Firing Orton is just not the "McMahon Way".
Shortly after Stephanie's statement, Shane McMahon's music hit but he didn't come with the "money".
Shane came with a flurry of punches and kicks to Legacy members Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes and Orton that can only be explained as Shane having a temporary case of IED, the same condition Orton has.
The next week on RAW it was announced that Shane and Orton would go one-on-one in a "No Holds Barred" match at No Way Out.
On paper this match looks lopsided. Most people think Shane has no chance in hell (pun intended).
Orton is on top of his game and on a collision course to main event Wrestlemania.
Shane is not a full-time wrestler but in the past has put his body on the line in some memorable matches.
The interesting part of this match won't be the match itself but what role some of the other "vested parties" will play in the match, namely Stephanie McMahon.
There are a few scenarios that may play out in this match.
TJ Wilson made his debut on ECW this week with Natalya which means that DH Smith may get his wish and become a member of Legacy.
Orton has mentioned in a radio interview that he was looking for one more person and that Smith was someone he was "scouting".
Current Legacy members Dibiase and Rhodes are not allowed at ringside, but Smith would not be a member of Legacy (yet) and could run in to help Orton win the match. He could later be introduced as the fourth member of the group.
The second scenario is the traditional "McMahon turns on McMahon" scenario.
Stephanie stated that "we have bigger plans." What if the "we" is Legacy?
It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Stephanie turn on Shane and join Legacy. It would give Orton all the leverage he needs going into Wrestlemania.
Or we could just see Orton win the match straight-up, destroy another McMahon and further the McMahons' hatred towards him.
Either way, Orton has to continue his momentum going into Wrestlemania. There's no way he loses this match.
