Over the past week on WWE TV, Dolph Ziggler has been added to the World Championship match at No Way Out against current champion, Sheamus, to replace the injured Alberto Del Rio.
Given that Ziggler is a last minute replacement, I don’t think he is likely to win the championship.
Though this can be seen as a fair and deserved push for Ziggler, I think that this will just be a continuation of the silent feud that has been going on over the past month with Jack Swagger.
As you may remember, Ziggler became upset with the losing streak that he and Jack Swagger have been experiencing. This led Ziggler to tell their mutual manager Vickie Guerrero that he wanted a singles career and no longer wanted to tag with Jack Swagger. Since then, Ziggler has repeatedly put down Swagger in subsequent interviews.
This Sunday at No Way Out seems like the perfect opportunity for Jack Swagger to get revenge on Ziggler. My prediction is that Swagger will get involved, and ultimately cost Ziggler the World Championship.
This could have a twofold effect. First, it would further confirm to all involved that the association between Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler is over.
Secondly, it would establish one of the two wrestlers as a babyface: Swagger could enter and destroy Ziggler, costing him the match because of the beatdown and thus making Swagger the heel and Ziggler the babyface.
Or...Swagger tries to help Ziggler win, but something goes wrong and it is followed by a post-match berating from Ziggler. This would keep Ziggler as the heel and turn Swagger into a babyface.
Either way, it could be a great opportunity if WWE decides to pull the trigger. Both men are truly talented and should have an opportunity to experience success.
