Chelsea Transfer News: Tracking All the Latest Rumors and Updates
Chelsea have already netted the hottest star of the summer transfer window in Eden Hazard, but don't expect Roman Abramovich to stop there in his quest to boost the Blues' squad.
Expect more players to be linked to Stamford Bridge over the next few weeks and rumor and speculation around those already linked to continue.
That's why we've got all the latest rumors, gossip and updates for the champions of Europe right here in one place, so read on to see who could be coming to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Malaga's £20 million striker Salomon Rondon is being touted as a possible replacement for Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge, who has scored 25 goals in his past two seasons at the club.
With both Arsenal and Tottenham seemingly out of the race due to the asking price by Malaga, Chelsea would be the front runners for the 22-year-old, who would offer great depth to the Blues' attack and keep the pressure on Fernando Torres' for the No. 1 strikers role.
The latest on the Blues' pursuit for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini all depends on how you interpret the following statement on his career.
Speaking on a possible move over the summer, Fellani stated:
If I have got to go, I will go. If not, I repeat, I am at Everton. I am ambitious [so] I want to play in the Champions League or in the Europa League. Last season we finished seventh with Everton, and we were not able to qualify us for Europe, which was a shame. If an ambitious club comes in for me? Why not, just to gain experience but I’m on vacation right now, I do not give [speculation] too much attention...
Hatem Ben Arfa
Newcastle's Hatem Ben Arfa is believed to be another one of Roman Abramovich's summer transfer targets, with reports emerging that the Blues are readying an £18 million bid for the midfielder.
Should the Blues follow through with their bid, Newcastle would most likely find it a tough offer to refuse. The Magpies would have made around £14 million on Arfa, and the money acquired could go to keeping the likes of Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse at the club.
Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama has confirmed through his agent that he is open to a move to the English Premier League, and Chelsea are believed to be interested in the 20-year-old Kenyan star.
Roberto Di Matteo is thought to believe that Wanyama is the perfect long-term replacement for Frank Lampard at the club, with a bid currently being prepared for the starlet.
Having said that, there is no suggestion that Frank Lampard will be leaving his beloved Stamford Bridge over the summer, with the English midfielder more than happy to keep playing under Roberto Di Matteo next season.
Lampard was integral to the Blues in their FA Cup and UEFA Champions League success and has recently gone on record "to say how he would like to stay at Stamford Bridge and there is no doubt Di Matteo has the management style to bring the best from him."
Hulk looked certain to be coming to Stamford Bridge over the summer, after it was reported several weeks ago that Chelsea and Porto had agreed to a £38 million deal for the international striker and that all that needed to be finalized was formalities.
That was two weeks ago now, and the Blues are believed to be no closer to finalizing their deal with Hulk—compounded by Porto digging their heels in to keep the striker. The latest is that Porto have received an interest from other clubs and will wait out for the best offer available for the striker.
Yet with Chelsea's backing from Roman Abramovich, the Blues would still have to be favorites to land the Brazilian over the summer transfer window.
Should Chelsea's bid for Hulk fall through, the next player in line was rumored to be Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic, who was linked to the Champions League winners as a possible replacement for Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge.
Yet according to Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade, no offer has been received for the striker—not even from the big-named clubs like Chelsea or Napoli. The Blues are no doubt interested in picking up Jovetic, but Hulk is their first preference—therefore, they are likely to hold off on Jovetic until they know where they stand with Hulk.
Currently under contract at Stamford Bridge, Daniel Sturridge believes he might be on the way out of the club in order to revive his international career. The striker recently stated that Roberto Di Matteo was the reason why he was snubbed from England's Euro 2012 squad despite starring early in the year under Andre Villas-Boas.
The signing of Eden Hazard as well as the proposed signings mentioned above would surely see Sturridge remain on the outer of the club and would indicate a possible move over the summer transfer window.
After being told to leave the club over the summer, Salomon Kalou has received plenty of attention from clubs right around the world and will surely sign with the highest bidder at some point during the transfer window.
Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool are all believed to be interested in the 26-year-old, as are Schalke and Feyenoord. Lille have also been linked to the striker in an attempt to replace Eden Hazard, who recently transferred to the Blues from the French side.
The Blues reportedly have a £30 million bid ready for one of the hottest strikers in world football, but similar to Jovetic, they will most likely hold off until further information is known about whether Hulk will or won't be coming to Stamford Bridge.
Wrapping up our Chelsea transfer news is the potential signing of Mathieu Debuchy, with the defender linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the summer transfer window. Debuchy would be an excellent fit with the Blues and would give the Champions League victors further depth in their back line, which they lacked at times during the season.
The £6 million-rated defender was expected to sign with Newcastle earlier in the transfer window, but with the probable departure of Jose Bosingwa, Roman Abramovich may well find it useful to pick up the defender for his new-look Blues.
And you'd have to think that with a bigger balance and the prospect of playing Champions League football, Chelsea would beat out Newcastle for his signature.
